哪裡有仇恨，就讓我播種仁愛
哪裡有殘害，就讓我播種寬恕
哪裡有猜疑，就讓我播種信仰
哪裡有絕望，就讓我播種希望
哪裡有黑暗，就讓我播種光明
哪裡有憂苦，就讓我播種喜樂
聖主啊，恩許我可以去
安慰他人，多於 被安慰
諒解他人，多於 被諒解
愛護他人，多於 被愛護
因為在施予他人時，我們有所得
因為在寬恕他人時，我們被寬恕
因為在生死交關時，我們將生於永恆。
英文版：
Lord, make me an instrument of your peace.
Where there is hatred, let me sow love.
Where there is injury, pardon.
Where there is doubt, faith.
Where there is despair, hope.
Where there is darkness, light.
Where there is sadness, joy.
O Divine Master,
grant that I may not so much seek to be consoled, as to console;
to be understood, as to understand;
to be loved, as to love.
For it is in giving that we receive.

聖方濟是一位放棄財富、權貴與名利而終身安貧助人的托缽修士，他對自然之愛表現了基督徒愛行最為獨特而深刻的一面。聖方濟喜愛投入自然的懷抱，視穹蒼大地為兄弟姊妹，並常因人惡待自然而傷痛；他歌頌日月星辰，善待花草動物，向飛鳥游魚講道，甚至勸化凶惡野狼與人和平共處。這些令人驚奇的事蹟打破了人對自然的封閉心靈，具體將愛延伸至自然。這樣的愛深刻地揭露了自然的內在價值以及蘊含於其中的靈性，並彰顯了聖三一天主浩瀚無邊的愛以及自然中聖神之無所不在。人應當愛自然，這當是聖方濟所立下最為優美崇高的生命典範之一，我們珍惜並敬重他流傳下來的這個典範。為此，我們於本著天主之愛所建立的靜宜大學設立聖方濟講座，擬每年邀請世界各地對自然及人文之奧義有精深思想且有學術威望的專家學者至本大學方濟樓開講授課，以延續並闡發聖方濟自然之愛的精神底蘊，期望靜宜大學因此成為臺灣乃至世界守護自然及其價值的學術重鎮。惟願天主祝福靜宜大學並顧守此講座，代代相傳，流芳萬古，並恩澤大地。聖方濟講座是為了紀念並延續天主教生態守護聖徒聖方濟（Saint Francis of Assisi, 1182-1226）的自然之愛而設立的講座。
